Metamorphosis Exhibit

"Metamorphosis" is the name of my exhibit at Viewpoint Gallery, Halifax NS, in August 2011. My purpose was to challenge viewers to see rock surfaces in new ways. Although many of the images have recognizable elements, the emphasis is on form, line, texture and colour.

Metamorphosis turned out to be an apt name for the exhibit as much as it has changed from first concept to end form. Initially planned to highlight the colour of American Southwest landscapes, it became a quest for Nova Scotian forms. I turned fresh eyes on my home province, and moved from colour to black and white treatments along the way. When processing my later images, I found I could more dramatically reveal the textures I was looking for - the moody ruggedness of our coastline - with a monochromatic approach.
