I spent a week in Tibet in April 2013, not much time, but enough to get a sense of the impact of modernity on traditional beliefs and ways of life. With the opening and development of Tibet, and the attractions of modern material life, the old ways and beliefs are in danger of becoming relics. As its cities become "western", Tibet's mystery and mysticism becomes more a thing of the imagination. That having been said, there is still much of old Tibet in the countryside, villages and in the old neighbourhoods of cities, and Tibet still provides the opportunity for spiritual experience to thoughtful visitors. Photos here attempt to reflect old Tibet - I have left out images of new Tibet and of the heavy military presence we were forbidden to photograph. Here are six albums of Tibet images.
