Georgia - Jekyll Island
Jen and I spent three weeks in January 2016 at the campground on Jekyll Island, one of the Golden Isles off the coast of Georgia. Besides being naturally beautiful, Jekyll Island is steeped in history: Battles between the Spanish and English; a slave plantation and the sad and dramatic story of the slave ship "Wanderer"; and later the Jekyll Club, a resort created by a group of the richest of America's "robber barons"; later the only beach in Georgia open to Blacks. Oh, what tangled webs we weave.
